Excerpt from The Perennial Wheel
This Lunar Eclipse has the Moon in the depths of mutable watery Pisces at 4 degrees opposite the Sun in the mutable earth sign of Virgo, who is conjunct Mercury by 1 degree. There is a changeable and meandering energy to this lunation brought about by the mutable mode. The Sun is seen to debilitate Mercury’s quick thinking and lightning speed abilities when combust, in such close proximity. The Sun is seen to blind and burn Mercury and makes Mercury invisible when in the heart of the Sun, even though Mercury is in rulership and exalted in Virgo. This implies there maybe important detailed information or communication that is outshone during this time, that we will not be able to witness just yet until this transit passes.
The ruling planet of this Eclipse is jovial Jupiter, who is situated in gregarious and warm hearted Leo, expanding these qualities.
The dispositors cycle lead through Jupiter, the Sun and end with Mercury, who is in an awkward contradictory state; exaggerated yet outshone communications seem to be the theme.
This situation is not helped by Uranus who is in a t-square to both the luminaries, Uranus known for sudden change and chaos and brings these qualities to this hyped up lunation in a disruptive fashion. Uranus is also at the apex of a mini grand trine with the Eclipse planetary ruler Jupiter and Saturn retrograde in fall in Aries. Saturn is also in a square to Mars in fall in Cancer.

Full Moons and Lunar Eclipses are generally considered culminations, illuminations or developments from prior New Moons; of the New Moon just before, the New Moon six months prior in the same sign, or of a phase pattern of Lunar Families in the same sign and degree which are nine months apart in each phase, the whole cycle covering a few years. The end of this cycle is due on the 28 May 2027 with the phase being in the last quarter at 7 degrees Pisces.
The Virgo-Pisces axis within medical astrology is linked to the lymphatic system, immunity and the sympathetic nervous systems.
Moon, Herbs and ritual
- Eclipse are traditionally times used for fasting, praying, resting with methods of mental shielding and psychic self-defence practiced.
- A Pisces Moon thus moist and fertile
- This is a good time for supporting the Lymphatics with dry brushing, gua sha and massage
- Herbs could include; Cleavers Galium aparine
- A simple full moon/lunar eclipse ritual could be to take some time out, light a candle and incense and place an offering of honeyed milk or mead while mentally or verbally stating gratitude and or willed intent in prayer or meditation, then chill out.
‘Thou shalt do nothing without the assistance of the moon,’ Agrippa.
‘The stars incline, they do not compel, a trinity of testimonial’s is needed for certainty. With foresight and preparation, a certainty can be prepared for, helping to either enhance or negate, as needed.’
These transits may affect you personally, if you are predisposed, this can be seen within your natal and other related charts, usually by what is termed a Trinity of Testimonial’s, though otherwise they are general.
If you are likely to be susceptible to this influence, making preparations of meditation and prayer, practicing forms of psychic self-defence maybe necessary. The best psychic self-defence is considered to be from those of your personal ancestral roots and not of foreign belief systems. Creating and maintaining a strong ancestral veneration practice is seen to strengthen against malicious forces.
