The solar ingress into the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn marks the winter solstice on the 21st December 2025 and follows closely on from the dark moon at 28 degrees of mutable fire sign Sagittarius the day before. Being cardinal and angular, this sets the stage for the coming season. With swift initiation of the cardinal mode, the practical and problem solving manner of earth, issue of food, land, possessions, the bones of the body are likely to be of concern.
The ruling planet of Saturn is situated at 25 degrees Pisces and although not in detriment or fall, its attributes to structure and discipline finds and the lack of boundaries of dreamy Pisces an awkward placement. In conjunction with Saturn is Neptune, in which its faery glamour and deception are enhanced, making the combination not only awkward but difficult to reason with.
The Sun is still in close connection with Venus, the planet of love at 26 degrees Sagittarius and Mars, the planet of war at 4 degrees Capricorn, on orb of equal measure on both sides. Venus and the Sun are in a troublesome square to Saturn, planet of time. Could the Sun be illuminating the far-reaching needs of self-worth and possessions with a difficulty of maintaining realistic structure and discipline of Saturn who is ill at ease?
With the Moon just emerging from dark I imagine that the coming Full moon will illuminate the hidden matters of this situation somewhat further.
Mercury, the planet of communication and lightning quick thought processes is in the farsighted and well-aimed sign of Sagittarius, ideas may be trying to catch a spark, but are more likely to when Mercury catches up with the stellium and is conjunct hot and energetic Mars on the 18th January.
